The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario is seeking a psychiatrist, ideally a child psychiatrist, for an upcoming locum with coverage starting May 1 – September 2016. This physician would work 45 hours per week –  does not require call duty. The physician shall submit hours monthly for billing purposes. The work environment would be such that the physician would be dealing with 1/3 of 19 beds with exclusion of treated eating and substance abuse disorders. The majority of patient care would be adolescents dealing with self harm issues as well as those dealing with psychosis. The psychiatric unit has a well staffed and competent support staff with as nurses, psychologists, child and youth care workers, occupational therapists, as well as two part time (.5) family physicians.

Note: the ideal candidate would be a child/adolescent psychiatrist, however a general psychiatrist with adolescent experience would be considered. The candidate would be CPSO eligible ( ideally CPSO licensed) as well as having Royal College status, although American Board of Psychiatry or International Medical graduates who have licensure in Ontario are encouraged to apply.
